The Elaeagnus Ebbingei is an evergreen shrub with dark green leaves with a silver-hued underside. It produces white fragrant flowers that eventually turn into an ornamental silvery berry. This Elaeagnus shrub grows well in USDA zones 7-9 and tolerates full sun to partial shade. Plant this Elaeagnus for privacy as a large hedge or screen in the landscape. When planting this shrub, dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and mix rich garden soil in with native soil. Leave the top of the root ball half an inch above the ground level when filling the hole with soil. As a lawn plant, use a slow-release granular fertilizer in the spring.
