Description
Hosta Guacamole is a medium sized hosta with bright green leaves. The variegated leaf color is reminscent of guacamole in the center and sports a darker green fringe. Guacamole is a sport of ‘Fragrant Bouquet’ and it produces fragrant white bloom scapes in July and August that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Hostas are primarily prized for their colorful foliage, so some gardeners choose to cut back the bloom stalks in order to encourage foliage growth. The blooms provide a stunning contrast to the green foliage. Like most hostas, Guacamole grows well in moist soils and in areas of a full to mostly shade. This hosta is hardy in USDA Zones 3 to Zones 8. Make sure your soil drains well and you water your hostas regularly to encourage growth.
